• For a long weekend you get the chance to step out of your modern life and into the Merrie England and the First Barons War. This is a 3-day Immersive Medieval Milsim event. That means we are creating a historical fiction event designed to put you into the boots of someone navigating this pivotal time in history. Combatant players fight battles, do supply raids and work to use politics to give their side an advantage. Noncombatant players are part of the medieval church, forming the nexus of knowledge, arbitration and art.
    • Most players camp on-site. Many in the {"in-game" area in medieval tents. Others out of game in modern tents, or they stay in local hotels or Airbnbs. All of your meals are provided buy out amazing caterers so you don't have to worry about food while at the event. Rather you can focus your time on experiencing the amazing world around you.
    • Battles use our combat rules to keep them safe and fun while making the visuals stunning and the adventures memorable. This is a high intensity combat sport! So players should be ready for intense physical activity.
    • Camp life is another major highlight of the event. The chance to engage with like-minded people, share battle stories over a mug of mead or mulled cider, and sing old songs around the campfire cements the experience as more that a combat experience, but a chance to be immersed in a new world.

The Historical Contect

King John Lackland rules England with an Iron Fist, the Magna Carta has failed to bring peace, the Barons march to war.

War of the Barons takes place in England in the Autumn/Winter of the year 1215 AD. This is a historical fiction event, most of the characters are fake, but are designed to feel real. The history and context are the history and context of 13th Century England. So major characters in the world, major recent events and geographey are all the same. It is the future that is now up to you...

  • Character

You will build a character based on our 13th century world. You can choose to be a combatant (knight, man-at-arms or archer) or a non combatant (member of The Church). You will role play as this character for the duration of the event.

  • Building Your Kit

We build the world, but you must equip yourself! Build a kit by acquiring proper medieval clothing, armor and weapons. This is a fun part of the hobby that you can (and should) work on months in advance. We provide a ton of resources on how to do this HERE on the website and on our Instagram.

  • The Battles

Your baron is trying to decide the fate of England and it is your job to help them! A large portion of the event involves participating in battles. At times these are symmetrical field battles where shieldwalls hack and slash at each other. Other times battles are spread out and you must hunt through the forest for objectives.

So how do you join?

  1. Buy a ticket for this year's event (or if tickets are not available yet come back to this step!)
  2. Look at the Barons/Church and decide who you want to join. Space is limited, so we recommend contacting them ahead of time via email or Instagram to see if there is room
  3. Build your kit. If you don't have a ticket yet, you may want to wait on items like a surcoat, but most items can be purchased even ahead of your ticket. Base layers like boots, tunics, and pants are pretty universal. BEFORE YOU BUY: all items must be approved for aesthetics and safety by your Baron. Email them or contact@warofthebarons.com before you buy anything to avoid disappointments.
  4. Make travel plans. Camping? Flying in? Get those detailes hammered out so you can relax and enjoy the event.
